Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots [1953] 1 QB 401
A court of appeal decision of 1953 which decides that when goods are purchased in a self service shop (such as Boots) the shop makes the offer to sell which the buyer accepts by making payment at the till. Had it gone the other way we would all be unable to take items out of our shopping trolleys at today's superstores!!
