Andrea Loux, Lecturer in Public Law at the University of Edinburgh, looks at the continuing problems in English law for transsexuals. She examines the discrimination cases P v S and M v Chief Constable (where an employment tribunal held that the police could lawfully refuse to hire a transsexual) and goes on to propose a model for adopting a sex/gender distinction in English law. 1997 WebJCLI Issue 3
